I am currently open to commissions.
Commissioning a piece of artwork can feel like a very big step.
It is always such a personal choice, so it is important to build a trusting relationship between client and artist.
Whatever stage your idea is at, talk to me and I will do my best to help you bring your idea to fruition.
It may be useful if you’ve already thought a bit about what you might want the design to look like. But I can suggest options. Even if the discussion process takes us in a different direction than anticipated, that’s fine. Discussion time is never time wasted.
A few points to consider.
- Is the location a private or public space?
- Will the piece be made as a 3D carving fully in the round, on one or more stone surfaces, or a relief (eg a plaque)?
- Will any lettering be required? What should it say?
- What (approximate) total size will the piece be?
- Will the piece be located outdoors or indoors?
Need an idea of costs?
As well as considering the technicalities of carving the piece, I can give you a preliminary idea of costs.
The size and complexity of the carving will affect the time it takes to complete. It may also influence the stone to be used (depending on what is available, or if you have any specific preference) and delivery of the completed carving to its location, if required.
